Allies

After nearly a decade walking the path to Treaty with our communities, and generations of resistance and activism from First Peoples, Treaty is here.
In 2025, we negotiated and signed Australia’s first Treaty between First Peoples in Victoria and the Victorian Government.
This included the creation of Gellung Warl, a new body that includes the First Peoples’ Assembly, alongside truth-telling and accountability arms.
The Treaty Era recognises that when it comes to Aboriginal cultures, communities and Country, the experts are Aboriginal people.
Treaty is a chance for all who call Victoria home to acknowledge the past, heal and move forward together.
The journey to Treaty has been led by First Peoples for decades, and allies are invited to walk alongside. It will help us all learn and deepen our understanding and connection to this place we all call home.
Want to be part of the Treaty journey? Here’s how:
Allyship is also about taking concrete action to show your support for Treaty, here’s some ways you can support…
