We are
Gellung Warl
Meaning tip of the spear in Gunaikurnai, Gellung Warl is the new body created through Australia’s First Treaty.

DECISIONS about us, made by us
Gellung Warl includes the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria, the democratically-elected group of Traditional Owners representing and making decisions on behalf of First Peoples across Victoria.
It also includes:

Nginma Ngainga Wara, meaning you will do in Wadi Wadi, will provide independent oversight and accountability for Government on behalf of First Peoples.

Nyerna Yoorrook Telkuna, meaning to sit, to listen, to hear, to remember in Wamba Wamba/Wemba Wemba, will continue the Truth-telling and healing process so everyone across the state can understand our shared past.
Members on the new term of the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria are getting on with the work of delivering Treaty and making sure it gets better outcomes for our people.
Grounded in culture, stronger together.

What is Treaty?
Treaty recognises that Aboriginal people are the experts on our own lives and know best what does and doesn’t work for us.
Through Treaty, we can make the most of our expertise and come up with and deliver practical solutions, getting better outcomes for our communities.
