Statewide Treaty Declaration

After almost a decade of work, Treaty is here in Victoria.
On December 12th 2025, at a special Community gathering, Aunty Esme Bamblett delivered a message on behalf of the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria. The Declaration was written by Assembly Members to Community about the first Statewide Treaty.
This Declaration affirms the importance of First Peoples’ Lore, law, rights, responsibilities and sovereignty. It reiterates the context of Victoria’s history from time immemorial to now. It reinforces the need for Treaty.
The Statewide Treaty Declaration outlines the key components of that comprise Gellung Warl, and the roles our community will play in the Treaty era.
