About Aunty Thelma

My name is Thelma Chilly, and I am a proud multi-clan Nation woman with ties to the Wiradjuri, Muthi Muthi, Wadi Wadi, Wamba Wemba, Barapa Barapa & Yorta Yorta Tribes.

I have given 42 years of service supporting Aboriginal communities across the Mallee Region. I am an experienced Government and Community professional with three decades focused on community development, family violence prevention and Aboriginal self-determination.

I am a strategic organiser with proven experience managing teams, budgets, partnerships and community programs across Regional Victoria. I have long been an Advocate for Social Justice with a strong commitment to ending family violence, improving outcomes in education, employment and wellbeing for Aboriginal people, especially Youth.

I have strong Cultural knowledge, deep local networks and a history of guiding communities toward self-determination. I am known for my communication skills, emotional intelligence and importantly my integrity. My qualifications are Community Development and Engagement.

I believe I am a Respected Aboriginal Elder with decades of service which has been dedicated to Culturally strengthening families and communities. I have great passion for strong Cultural education and provided communities with the Robinvale Easter Camp, held annually, to pass along our rich Culture to all, especially our children.
